Is Early Baldness Related to Prostate Cancer?

17:55

Men who set into hair loss leading to baldness at a premature age should worry not only about their physical appearance and lowering self-esteem, but also because it may be a symptom of some serious health hazards which may take place in the near future.

Scientists, since over a decade, are aware of the relation between baldness and prostate cancer, but the earlier studies were proving that it is not correct. According to the recent research that was conducted on Afro-American people, the men who go bald at early ages have a greater chance of suffering from prostate cancer.

Can prostate cancer happen to any bald man?
Whether prostate cancer is related to specific male pattern baldness or to any kind of baldness is not yet clearly known. The above-mentioned research only establishes that there is a link between prostate cancer and baldness. Scientists perceive that in the coming years, male pattern baldness may become crucial in determining the risk of such cancer. However, the surveys done on bald men show that any bald man is in more danger of having prostate cancer than others. If you have bald spots moderately at the vertex, then it may be a symptom of this type of cancer. Approximately 56% of bald men become a victim of it over a time-span of 21 years. Moreover, those whose hairlines have just started to recede have 83% more chance to pass away from prostate cancer.

You will feel a little relaxed to know that these estimations and calculations have specific restrictions which is inclusive of the exact age when balding starts. If you are going bald with your rowing age, then you need not worry, as it may happen due to ageing.

What’s the role of DHT in it?

DHT is a chemical produced by the male sex hormone, testosterone. The increase in the quantity of DHT in the blood circulation shrinks the follicles of the hair. As a consequence of it, the hair gets thinner and the new hairs which grow are very fragile. Patients suffering from prostate cancer generally take medicines which lower the level of testosterone. It is because this hormone apart from causing hair shedding in men is also responsible for triggering the growth of many tumours as soon as they form. However, the recent research establishes a theory which is absolutely against the previous one. It has proved that if the young people have higher levels of testosterone, then they can combat the disease effectively.

This indirectly suggests that if the person develops male pattern baldness due to the increase of testosterone, then he will not suffer from prostate cancer due to it.

However, genuine and top hair transplantation clinics in Kolkata will give you amazing results in hiding your bald scalp with hair. Whatever may be the cause, all kinds of male pattern baldness can be treated with hair transplantation surgery.

Hence, after the extensive research, I have come to the conclusion that baldness is not necessarily linked to prostate cancer but sometimes it may be regarded as the early symptoms of this syndrome.
